An Emergency Shutdown System (ESD) is designed to minimise the consequences of emergency situations related to incidents such as uncontrolled flooding, leakages of hydrocarbons, fire outbreaks in hydrocarbon-bearing plant or other hazardous situations.
We offer risk analyses to find out if your ESD requires a high Safety Integrity Level, typically SIL 2 or 3. Basically, the system consists of field-mounted sensors, valves and trip relays, system logic for processing of incoming signals, as well as alarm and HMI units. The system can process input signals and activate outputs in accordance with the Cause & Effect charts specified for the installation.
