Egersund Landstrøm Adopts BluEco® Shore Power System

December 16, 2024

Challenges

  • Expand the shore power capacity at Kaupanes quay to meet increasing demand for sustainable energy solutions.
  • Reduce greenhouse gas emissions, noise, and vibrations, contributing to a cleaner and quieter environment for the local community.
  • Enable diverse ship types, including bulk carriers, freezer vessels, trawlers, cable ships, and cargo vessels, to access climate-friendly shore power.

Solutions

  • BluEco® Shore Power System: Delivered a comprehensive solution with expanded power outlets, including one at Kaupanes, two at the Steamship quay, and one at the Hymek quay.
  • End-to-End Delivery: Blueday Technology managed the project from design and engineering to supply, installation, and commissioning.
  • Phase Two Expansion: Built on the success of phase one by extending shore power infrastructure to additional quays, enabling more ships to connect to sustainable energy.

Results

  • Significant reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, noise pollution, and vibrations, improving the port’s environmental impact.
  • Enhanced capability to support a variety of ship types, fostering greater adoption of climate-friendly energy solutions by shipowners.
  • Strengthened Egersund’s commitment to sustainability, positioning it as a leader in climate-conscious port operations.
